Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
July 2022
Quebec City was one of the stops on our trip to eastern Canada in July through August 2022. Even though I grew up in Montreal, this was my first time visiting Quebec City, and I loved it! There are so many beautiful old stone buildings and houses. We stayed in a basement apartment in an old red brick house with an old-fashioned big white porch (photo on right). It was located right next to the Plains of Abraham, and on a hill above old QC. Pope Francis even coordinated his visit to QC to overlap exactly with ours 😉.

Upper Old Quebec City
We spent the first day walking around upper Old QC. So magical, full of history, so colorful, and so many beautiful gardens and flowers.

Lower Old Quebec City
The next morning we walked around lower Old QC, starting with La Rue Du Petit-Champlain. This street (rue) follows along the river, just one block up, and is full of funky store fronts and unique merchandise. It took us (me) forever to go just a few blocks!

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency
After walking around old QC, it was time to take a short drive east of the city for a mid-day picnic and a visit to Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. As you see by the photos, chute means waterfall!
And I love nature, so couldn't resist showing these persistent trees we saw on our hike, growing on stone walls and yet successfully managing to grow upwards toward the sky!

Lévis
On our last day, we took a short drive across the Pierre-Laporte bridge to Lévis, which is located on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, directly opposite Quebec City. Lévis is actually a National Historic Site of Canada known primarily for its fort. While in Lévis, we of course had to check out the local waterfall in the Parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière. Again, an absolutely beautiful hike, and of course with plenty of stairs to climb both on the hike and in town!
I hope you enjoyed a little taste of Quebec City and surrounding sights.
Thanks for visiting!
